Behind the Curtain:
Diagnostic Discourse in Medical Interpreting

For interpreters who are learning to work in medical settings, gaining access to clinical situations before they are called to work in those settings would be the most beneficial educational approach.
In other words, when exposed to clinical setting, interpreters can learn in context about the types of medical professionals, their communication aims, common medical service protocols, typical diagnostic dialogues (or the clinical "scripts" of common conditions), and presenting complaints.
In this live webinar, we go "behind the curtain" to look at common clinical scripts within a clinical context.

How do we gain access?
Thanks to the contributions of medical students and professionals through standardized patient programs, interpreters and interpreter educators can gain access to hours of recorded, spontaneous and natural dialogues in healthcare settings.
